Scicon Sports presents the new short nose Elan saddle, our first racing saddle and the next development in our brand’s long standing heritage and innovation in cycling. The new Scicon Sports Elan Saddle paves the way for a new category in our repertoire, a move made possible thanks to our in-house industry expertise across both saddle design and sports science. The goal? Produce a saddle that provides performance and comfort in both an aggressive race position and a more relaxed riding style. The result? A performance product for cyclists in need of a lightweight saddle with no compromise on ride comfort, that is field tested and proven for both men and women. The saddle design is well suited for both road cyclists and mountain bike riders alike, thanks to an innovative riding position designed with performance and comfort in mind.
Power Ergo Design is a project initiated by Scicon Sports inhouse bike fitting studio ASG Bike Science, that brings bike scientists, product designers and athletes together to develop high-performing, comfortable and aesthetic cycling products. The mission of the Power Ergo Design project is to develop products with only the highest standards, combining product design mastery and scientific research in the field.
Slightly shorter and wider than the average racing saddle, the Scicon Sports Elan saddle has a short-nose and ergonomic design with a wider seat area, following a lightly waved seat profile.
The combination of a reduced seating surface, a short nose design and a central cut out, removes pressure from soft tissue, increasing blood flow and improving ride comfort in a variety of riding positions for long days in the saddle. Improved blood flow also increases muscular efficiency of up to 10%.
The performance profile of the Elan saddle with a short nose design and wider seat profile, allows sufficient hip rotation, supporting road cyclists and mountain bike riders alike to lean forward into a lower position. Whether riding in the drops in an aggressive riding position on the road bike or leaning forward on the mountain bike on steeper climbs for better weight distribution, the short nose design allows both the required flexibility to reposition in the saddle.
The saddle is built on lightweight, durable braided carbon fiber rails, holding a carbon fiber reinforced polymer shell to give a stable yet light saddle structure.
The medium density foam technology incorporated in the ergonomic design concept provides ride comfort and support for long rides while maintaining its shape over time. A built in marker allows you to check compression of the foam padding over time.
With carbon braided rails the Scicon Sports Elan Power Ergo Design saddle is a lightweight performance saddle weighing in at just 199 grams in a one size fits all, measuring 148mm in width and 248mm in length.
